Procedure for Programming Model UV-106-W Aqueous Ozone Monitor

Requirements
Programming the Model UV-106-W aqueous ozone monitor requires a computer running
the "Analog Devices Serial Downloader" program to download the firmware from the
computer to the monitor, and the straight through rs232 serial cable provided by 2B
Technologies. The computer must have a serial port or a USB port with a USB to Serial
converter cable to connect to the rs232 serial cable provided by 2B Technologies.

Procedure

I. Install Windows Serial Downloader Application
      1. If not already installed, please install the WSD.exe application provided by 2B Technologies.
      2. In the “Configuration” menu on the WSD, set the Port number to the COM port that corresponds to the one your serial connector is connected to. Normally this is COM1 unless you do not have a serial port on your computer and you are using a serial to USB converter. If using the serial to USB converter, check in Windows Device Manager for the correct port number
corresponding to the converter.

II. Record all stored parameters
      1. Enter the main menu by pushing in the select nob for around 10 seconds.
      2. Enter the “Cfg” submenu by clicking the select nob.
      3. Enter the “Cal” submenu then write down or record all calibration parameters (FM, Z=, S=). This is imperative as you will need to re-enter these parameters after programming the new firmware.

III. Gain access to PCB
      1. Remove the two screws on the front of the faceplate and then open the instrument.
      2. Remove the lid of the PCB box by removing all six screws. The PCB box is located on the underside of the faceplate.

IV. Programming instrument
     1. Plug in 12V power source for instrument.
     2. Connect RS232 cable to D9 connector on the provided cable for the instrument and then connect the other end to PC.
     3. Open a serial emulator such as the 2B Data Display Software, Teraterm, or Hyperterminal on available com port running at 38400 Bits per second, 8 data bits, No parity, 1 stop bit, hardware flow control.
    4. Locate “sw2” on circuit board. It is a small push button switch located above the pressure sensor.
    5. Press and hold the button labeled "sw2" on the PCB while powering on the instrument (this will put your instrument into reset mode, and you can confirm this by looking at the LCD where you will see two rows of black boxes).
   6. Look on the serial emulator window for data output starting with "ADuC834". (If data not seen on the terminal, repeat steps 5-6 until you see the data output.)
   7. The instrument is now ready to have a new program downloaded to it from the PC through the RS232 cable.
   8. Close the terminal screen which will release the COM port.
   9. Open the WSD (Windows Serial Downloader)
10.Press the "Reset" button on the WSD screen.
11.When the board is Reset properly the WSD screen will output this: Configuration: COM1, 9600 baud, RESETTING PART: OK
12.Press the "Download" button on the WSD screen.
13.Choose the .hex file to download (For example: O3106WVER2B.hex)
14.You will see a bar on the WSD screen showing the progress of the download. When the bar has completed the download is successful.
15.Cycle Power to be sure the new version starts correctly.

V. Replace PCB box cover and faceplate screws and re-enter menu parameters
  1. Replace PCB box cover in the reverse process as removal.
  2. Close the faceplate of the instrument then replace the two screws for the
faceplate (do not overtighten these screws, doing so will indent the faceplate graphic).
  3. Re-enter all parameters recorded in step 3 of section II.
